Stressed out, overweight, stuck and unhappy

Like many of you, in the fall of 2021 I found myself 15 pounds over my goal weight, not working out regularly, and struggling to feel good about myself. I was stressed out, stuck and unhappy. Frustrated with my lack of progress and inability to make changes on my own, I decided to seek guidance from a nutrition coach.

Our discussions covered various aspects of health such as meal plans and food tracking, but the real breakthrough came through coaching, which empowered me to recognize my own capacity for change and reignited my belief in myself.

Mindset change was key

I committed to the habit of moving my body for 30 minutes everyday - whether that was taking a walk, snowshoeing, or swinging kettlebells in my basement. My mindset was not "if" but "when" each day. I couldn't wait around for motivation to show up, I just needed to take action. Cutting out snacking but not my favorite foods (can you say dark chocolate?), implementing intermittent fasting, and moving my body every day helped me lose weight and then consistently stay within 3-4 pounds of my goal weight the last 2-1/2 years. I made only the changes in my diet that were sustainable over the long-haul. It was important that I could see myself continuing what I did to lose the weight in order to also maintain the results.

Focus on what is possible

As I worked on changing my diet, eating habits, and working out more consistently, I found what was most helpful was changing my mindset and focusing on the future me - on what transformation would unlock - the ability to wear the clothes I loved and feel good about my health and fitness level. Coaching helped me change my story and start believing in what was possible.
